PURPOSE:To hide an ignition switch inside of an instrument panel by utilizing a tilt mechanism of a steering shaft. CONSTITUTION:An ignition switch main body 5 having an insertion hole of an ignition key is fitted to a steering shaft 2 having a tilt mechanism or a column 3 for covering the periphery of the steering shaft. The highest position of the angle of inclination of the steering shaft 2 is set at a height, at which the ignition switch main body 5 can be hidden in an instrumental panel. A fixing means for fixing the steering shaft 2 at the highest position of the angle of inclination of the steering shaft 2 is also provided. A lever for cancelling the fixation is provided inside of a glove box 9 or a console box 15 or the like. The insertion port of an ignition key is thereby hidden, and the steering wheel is fixed at a position, in which the operation is hard. Burglar on impulse is thereby reduced. |
