PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reception device, a reception method and a program capable of instructing a reception device of a lower display resolution than a broadcast resolution to indicate a state where contents are being viewed while impairing its original attractions.SOLUTION: A reception device 10 comprises: a reception part 101 for receiving a broadcast; a display part 109; a resolution detection part 112 for detecting a broadcast resolution from the broadcast received by the reception part 101; an instruction detection part 111 for detecting a display control instruction based on a display resolution that is displayable and the broadcast resolution from the broadcast that is received by the reception part 101; and an operation determination part 115 which compares the display resolution of the display part 109 with the broadcast resolution and displays a video image on the display part 109 while controlling display of the video image based on a result of the comparison and the display control instruction that is detected by the instruction detection part 111.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
