PURPOSE: Provided are a cathode active material composition for a lithium secondary battery, which can improve a thermal stability and a lifetime property, and the lithium secondary battery produced by using the cathode active material composition. CONSTITUTION: The cathode active material composition contains a cathode active material selected from the formula 1 to 6(wherein the formula 1:LixNi(1-y-z)MyNzB2, formula 2:LixNi(1-y-z)MyNzO(2-A)C(A), formula 3:LixCoB2, formula 4:LixCoO(2-z)Bz, formula 5:LixCo(1-y)M"yB2, and formula 6:LixNi(1-y-z)CoyM"zB2) and a metal hydroxide, wherein the metal of the metal hydroxide is selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Ca, Si, Co, K, Na, Tl, Ru, Ni, Sr, Pb, Zr, B, Ba, Be, Bi, Cr, Cu, and Fe. In the formula, x is 1-1.1, y is 0-0.5, z is 0-0.5, A is 0-0.1, B is O, F, or S, C is F or S, M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Co, Mn, Fe, Mg, B, Al, Si, Ti, Ga, Ge, and Y, M'' is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Cr, Co, La, Sr, and V. And the lithium secondary battery contains a cathode containing the cathode active material composition, an anode containing an anode active material capable of intercalating/deintercalating lithium salts, and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution. |
