A fuel cell, and a method for operating the fuel cell are provided to prevent fuel drying and the excessive supply of fuel to a stack, thereby reducing the deterioration of the performance of a fuel cell stack. A fuel cell(20) comprises a fuel cell stack(20A); a buffer(20B); an actuator(20C); and a control circuit part(20D) which controls the operation of the actuator according to the specific physical value of the buffer. Preferably the specific physical value is resistance. The measured resistance or current of the buffer is compared with the reference value, and the actuator is turned on or off according to the compared result. |
