A rotary internal combustion engine comprises a four-segment hinged rotor assembly accommodated in a coaxial housing such that the rotor assembly deforms and continuously adapts to the housing internal profile during its rotation. The closed non-circular rotor housing internal profile is a curve defined by a novel mathematical relationship.
