<p>PURPOSE:To provide the subject base paper excellent in the hand touch and flexibility in a simple production process at a low cost by subjecting base paper comprising a mixture of cellulose pulp and synthetic fibers in a specific mixing ratio to a thermal embossing process. CONSTITUTION:Mixed paper comprising 50-90wt.%, preferably 75-85wt.%, of cellulose pulp and 10-50wt.%, preferably 15-25wt.%, of synthetic fibers as base paper is subjected to a thermal embossing process to provide the objective base paper having an emboss-holding property of 15-30g/cm<2>. The emboss-holding property is represented by the total weight (g/cm<2>) of a glass plate and weights, when the shape of the emboss of the base paper is perfectly eliminated in a measuring method comprising adjusting the thermally embossed base paper having a size of 20mmX75mm with water to a moisture content of 70%, placing the glass plate on the base paper, and successively placing the weights on the glass plate. 50-90wt.% of the synthetic fibers are preferably constituted of synthetic fibers having a low melting point of 60-130 deg.C.</p> |
