The present invention discloses a method for authenticating a wireless VPN terminal providing a virtual private network service using a public network and a system for the same. A method for authenticating a VPN terminal, connected to a virtual private network gateway, in a public network including a mobility management device and a home subscriber server according to an aspect of the present invention comprises the steps of: receiving, by the home subscriber server, authentication information, including an authentication token stored when a VPN terminal is connected to a public network and performs authentication, from a virtual private network gateway; calculating, by the home subscriber server, another authentication token through performance of a specific algorithm using the authentication information exclusive of the authentication token, and comparing, by the home subscriber server, the other authentication token with the authentication token included in the authentication information; and transmitting, by the home subscriber server, an authentication result based on a result of the comparison to the virtual private network gateway. |
