PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seedling-raising method for uniformly growing respective seedlings through suppressing root-clinging phenomena by promoting root growth in a predetermined direction with the help of both water and air feed paths, thus facilitating plant cultivation after transplantation, and to provide a seedling-raising pot for the method. SOLUTION: The seedling-raising method involves inserting pins 31 in the vicinity of the sidewall of the seedling-raising pot 30. The pot 30, which is intended to plant seedlings in culture soil put in a pot-like vessel and raise them, is in the form of a cylindrical body 11, the inner sidewall of which is furnished with one or more recesses 13 each with predetermined depth and width, and a flange 14 is provided with notches 15 each communicating with the corresponding recess 13, wherein each of the recesses 13 has a length at least one-third the longitudinal length of the pot 30.
