The invention relates to a joint part (10) for a windshield wiper. According to the invention, a wiper arm (28) is connected to the joint part (10), and the joint part is fabricated from a sheet metal plate (16) by punching and bending, whereby starting from a longitudinally oriented covering wall (40), at least one wall part of a lateral wall (38, 42) is comprised, by bending it 180 DEG inwards, of a number of sheet metal layers. In addition, a securing device (52, 54; 60; 58, 64) for a tension spring is fastened to the innermost sheet metal layer and protrudes into an open space (30) between the lateral walls (38, 40). Said securing device can be recessed into the innermost sheet metal layer as a slot (52) extending from the bottom edge (50). The slot is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (56) of the joint part (10), and a pin (54) is inserted therein.
