PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature detecting device which is capable of temperature detection, disconnection detection, and overheating abnormality detection, with a simple configuration using one temperature detecting element, and to provide an image forming apparatus and a program.SOLUTION: The temperature detecting device includes a variable resistance part which is connected to between a voltage generation source generating a reference voltage and the temperature detecting element and whose resistance value can be switched between a first value and a second value larger than the first value, temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of a heating element, on the basis of a potential between the variable resistance part and the temperature detecting element, and overheating detecting means for detecting the overheating of the heating element, on the basis of the potential between the variable resistance part and the temperature detecting element and a predetermined reference potential. When the temperature of the heating element detected by the temperature detecting means is less than a predetermined temperature, the variable resistance part is controlled so that the resistance value of the variable resistance part is alternately switched to the first value and the second value. When the temperature of the heating element detected by the temperature detecting means is the predetermined temperature or more, the variable resistance part is controlled so as to obtain the first value. |
