PURPOSE:To obtain the titled resin having a high gloss without whitening by ejection of molded articles, by emulsion graft polymerizing a vinyl an aromatic compound and vinyl cyanide compound in the presence of a butadiene based latex having a specific gel content, average particle diameter and particle size distribution. CONSTITUTION:73-35pts.wt. monomer consisting consisting essentially of a vinyl aromatic compound and vinyl cyanide compound is emulsion graft polymerized in the presence of 27-65pts.wt. (as solid content) butadiene based polymer latex. In the process, a latex having >=50wt.% gel content, 1000-1800 Angstrom average particle diameter (Sp) and a narrow particle size distribution such that >=70wt.% particles are within 0.7-1.5 Sp Angstrom particle diameter range is used as the butadiene based polymer latex to afford the aimed resin. |
