LIQUID CRYSTAL ALIGNING FILM, LIQUID CRYSTAL ALIGNING AGENT, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

A liquid crystal aligning agent is provided to reduce problems resulting from dust or static electricity, control a pre-tilt angle of liquid crystals easily, and form liquid crystal aligning films. A liquid crystal aligning agent comprises: a polyamic acid which is a reaction product of tetracarboxylic dianhydride and diamines and includes azo groups in the main chain; and a solvent. The diamines contain a diamine having a side chain structure. The liquid crystal aligning film is obtained by imidizing the polyamic acid oriented in a predetermined direction by light irradiation. The liquid crystal aligning film has an alignment index(Delta) of a main chain in the obtained polyimide of 0.03-1.00. When a liquid crystal display device including the liquid crystal aligning film is formed, a pre-tilt angle of liquid crystal ranges from 2 to 90 degrees.
