A method for preparing a toner, a toner prepared by the method, and an image formation method using the toner are provided to improve the affinity of a toner and an external additive, increase the amount of an external additive on the surface of a toner and to enhance durability and the stability of static electricity. A method for preparing a toner comprises the steps of polymerizing a core composition comprising a macromonomer having a hydrophilic group, a hydrophobic group and at least one reactive functional group, at least one polymerizable monomer and a wax to prepare the latex for core; adding a pigment dispersion dispersed by the macromonomer and an inorganic salt to the latex for core to agglomerate the latex for core; and coating the latex for shell layer to the agglomerated latex for core, wherein the latex for shell layer is prepared by polymerizing a shell layer composition comprising at least polymerizable monomer, a macro-initiator having a polydimethylsiloxane unit and a macromonomer.
