PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coating material for a molten zinc bath member excellent in resistance to zinc bath melting loss, its manufacturing method and the member. SOLUTION: A surface coating material is used for forming a coating layer on the surface of a molten zinc bath member. The surface coating layer comprises WC powder particles and an alloy with a single phase having a composition including Co and one or more elements of Ni, Al, and Mo, as a binding metal wherein the alloy has the immersion potential difference of 80 mV or less with respect to WC in an acidic solution or in a molten metal atmosphere.
