The optical scanning observation system comprises: an endoscope that scans a subject and receives returning light; a scan control unit that causes the subject to be scanned in first and second scan paths alternately; an optical detection unit that generates and outputs a signal corresponding to the returning light; an image generation unit that generates and outputs one image corresponding to the signal which is output during the period of time in which the subject is scanned in the first scan path; a display control unit that outputs the one image twice consecutively; an output processing unit that outputs the one image output twice consecutively to a display device, field by field; and a synchronization control unit that synchronizes the operations of the image generation unit, display control unit, and output processing unit so that the period of time in which the subject is scanned once each in the first and second scan paths and the period of time in which the one image is displayed as an image of one frame are the same length. |
