PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a size of a starter for an internal combustion engine in a direction along an axial line of a crankshaft, in the starter for the internal combustion engine which imparts a start rotating force to the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine according to a turn operation of a kick pedal.SOLUTION: A driven gear 14 arranged at a fixed position is linked with and connected to a crankshaft 11, a drive gear 15 for rotationally driving the driven gear 14 according to a turn operation of a kick pedal 12 rotationally drives the driven gear 14 while moving to a position which is engaged with the driven gear 14 from a standby position according to a pedal-in operation of the kick pedal 12 from a non-operation position by the action of a link mechanism 16, and when an operation force to the kick pedal 12 is released after the rotation of the driven gear 14 accompanied by a start of an internal combustion engine E, the drive gear 15 is returned to a standby position while being disenabled in engagement with the driven gear 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
