Multi-layer flat vehicle body panel - with reflective metal layer has several flexible fibrous insulating layers

The vehicle body panel is flat and is made up of several layers. It comprises a hard reflective top layer of metal, combined with at least one pliable temperature-resistant bottom layer which is made of fibrous insulating material. This layer may be made of aluminium silicate or asbestos, which may be embedded in a filled polyurethane foam mat placed on the side remote from the top layer. Both layers are acoustically adapted to render the system sound-insulating. The reverse side of the body panel may also be covered with a metal layer. Drumming and vibration is reduced.
