PURPOSE:To make coincident the image of a printing space and a layout displaying part by displaying the size of the paper to be printed, the area which can be printed on the actual space and the character arranging condition, on the layout display part. CONSTITUTION:At the time of displaying the layout, a space image displaying means 5 draws a frame 12 which shows the size of the paper at the display device, and draws 'brackets' 13 which shows the area to be able to be printed actually by the printing area display means in the frame 12. The character arranging condition in the document is displayed by a text area display means 7 in the 'brackets' 13. As the method to show the printing area, the method by the color is also obtained besides the 'brackets' 13.
