The actuator arrangement contains a cam plate driven directly from the shaft with a curved path for sensing by a sensor element movable at least approximately radially wrt. the cam plate centre. The curved path has sections of different curvature. The two outer sections (34,35) of the curved path are circular arcs with different radii and are joined by a central section (33). Alternatively, they can be spiral curves with smaller radius than the central joining section. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for detecting rotation angle of motor vehicle steering column. Enables accuracy of measurement signal over measurement range to be simply matched to application's special requirements.
