The present invention relates to a method, a device, and a data storage medium for managing data records. Instead of overwriting existing data element values in the data record when these are to be changed, the system creates a new instance of the data record, which makes it possible on a later occasion to use the existing information for providing information about the earlier contents of the data record. At the same time, an instance is created in a transaction table related to the data record, which stores information about the changes which have been carried out with respect to the data record. Thus, both the data record and the transaction table related to the data record can be optionally utilised in connection with answering time-related questions with respect to the contents and/or updating of the data record. |
