The plug connector is intended for television CRTs and consists of a flexible screening cap, a connecting sleeve for retaining an insulating casing of a cable connector, and an annular contact element galvanically coupled to the cable connector and inserted in a recess (5) of the screening cap. The contact element (6) has sprung connecting claws. Its peripheral edge, abutting the recess bottom has a cut-out which, on insertion of the contact element into the recess, is pushed over the cable insulating casing (3) for its latching. The cut-out in the contact element is preferably of such dimensions as to cut through the cable insulating casing. At the point of contact the casing may be notched.
