PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which can easily, quickly, and accurately edit digital video information and audio information by discriminating sounds in audio information, generating the character string, particularly, the ASCII character string temporally corresponding to the sounds, and then, leading out editing data based on the marked part of the character string displayed on the display screen of a displaying means. SOLUTION: Audio and video source signals from input sides 13 and 15 are written in a disk memory 6. A sound discriminating module 21 generates an ASCII character string upon detecting words in the audio source signals and writes the ASCII character string in the disk memory 6 while maintaining the temporal relation between the audio and video source signals. When the ASCII character string is read out from the memory 6 and displayed on a monitor 8 as a text, a prescribed time code value is assigned to each word of the text. Therefore, the parts of the video or audio signals belonging to the words become accessible through time codes. |
