PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a life terminal state of an electric discharge lamp even when circumstance temperature of the electric discharge lamp changes, in cheap self-exciting type electric discharge lamp lighting equipment which has a distortion improvement function of input current. SOLUTION: When both terminal end voltage of electric discharge lamps L1 and L2 decreases by change of circumference temperature and an unusual- state detection circuit EL stops operating by it, the operation of the unusual- state detection circuit EL of the electric discharge lamp is enabled also at the time of low temperature and high temperature by a release circuit, which cancels non-operating of the unusual-state detection circuit EL.
