<p>1342402 Winch apparatus DEERING MILLIKEN RESEARCH CORP 19 April 1971 [23 March 1970] 25032/71 Heading D1L Apparatus for treating fabric in rope-like form comprises a container 10 for treating medium 14, a driven winch roller 24, guide means, in the embodiment illustrated an endless chain 46, for guiding the fabric from the roller 24 to the medium 14 and back to the roller, and an elongated endless conveyer 26 located below the roller and having spaced projections 34 extending outwardly from it, the cloth 36 passing through the spaces between these projections. The cloth 36 is towed by chain 46, via swivel 65 and eye bolt 66 attached to the leading edge 94 of the cloth, so that it passes over the roller 24, down to the treatment bath 10 and back up to the roller 24, passing through the spaces between the projections 34 of the conveyor 26. Once on each circuit the swivel 65 activates switch 68 which operates motor 70 to move the conveyor 26 so that the cloth is pushed towards the further end of the roller 24 from chain 46. Means are provided (Fig. 4 not shown) to regulate the distance the cloth moves before motor 70 is switched off. In consequence of this, the cloth is forced into a helical configuration about the roller, each convolution forming pleats 104 in the treatment fluid 14. Bar 38 is situated close to the top edge of projectors 34 and serves to stop the cloth jumping from one space to another. The bar is able to be pivoted upwards if a knot or jam in the cloth strikes it; such pivoting activates mercury switch 52 which turns off the drive motors.</p> |
