PURPOSE: A device for feeding an upper thread in an embroidering machine permitting soft supplying of thread by simplification of a head system and removal of a curve path in a supply path of thread is provided which prevents thread to be supplied from being separated. CONSTITUTION: This upper thread supplying device comprises: a head stem(71) having a needle operating part(72); a thread supplying part for supplying any one of a plurality of threads having a different color; a guide pipe assembly containing a first guide pipe for receiving thread from the thread supplying part and a second guide pipe(83) adjacent to the needle operating part at its lower end part; and a thread snatcher(100) having a shaving lever(103) and a thread hanging member(105) for tensioning and relaxing the thread by performing an alternating motion through a separation distance according to the shaking motion of the shaking lever.
