The shock wave generator tube (1) comprises a carrier (2) for a plane voltage discharge coil (3), in plastics (4) material facing a metal diaphragm (5) via insulating foil (6) and secured (7) to the carrier. It produces shock waves (P) in a liq. The diaphragm side facing the liq. is provided with a cavitation-resistant coating (9) which may consist of rubber, e.g vulcanised as foil to the diaphragm, or of Ti-nitrite or carbide. The diaphragm pref. consists of Cu-Be bronze and may have its side facing the coil silver plated (8).
