摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for identifying combustible gases whereby a kind of gas composing the combustible gas can be simply and surely identified even in a low concentration range. SOLUTION: The combustible gas-identifying apparatus is equipped with a gas-detecting means 2 including a semiconductor type methane gas sensor 21 and a semiconductor type combustible gas sensor 22, an operating means 3, and an identifying means 4. The operating means 3 has a first converting means 31 for converting an output signal obtained from the semiconductor type methane gas sensor 21 to a methane gas concentration, a second converting means 32 for converting an output signal obtained from the semiconductor type combustible gas sensor 22 to a combustible gas concentration, and an operating means 33 for operating a non-methane combustible gas concentration by processing a difference of the combustible gas concentration and the methane gas concentration by subtraction. The identifying means judges a kind of the gas to be detected based on a ratio of the methane gas concentration and the non-methane combustible gas concentration.
