The present invention provides a method and apparatus for identifying an application installation package. The method comprises: when it is determined that a package name of an installation package that is requested to be identified is not in a package blacklist, searching for an application matching the installation package that is requested to be identified, in a database in which the application installation package and information thereof are stored; and when the corresponding application program is successfully matched in the database, determining that the application installation package that is requested to be identified is identified. In this way, identified application installation packages are not limited to applications provided by a same platform, and the packages can be identified in a high-coverage, high-precision and cross-platform manner. |
