A garage for parking two cars or other light vehicles one on top of the other consists of two platforms (17, 18) at different heights, each designed to receive one vehicle, set at different heights and connected to flexible elements (19) such as chains or cables, passings round pulleys (20) supported by columns (16). A counterweight (21) attached to the free ends of the flexible elements on each side balances the weight of the vehicle on the lower platform (17), and a drive can be provided by a power cylinder or electric motor. After one vehicle has been driven from the ground level onto the lower platform (17), it is lowered into a basement (14), bringing the upper platform to ground level, so that a second vehicle can be garaged.
