This optical unit (1) comprises: a fixed part which includes a front frame part (4) for retaining an object-side fixed lens group, a rear frame part (5) for retaining an image-side fixed lens group or an imaging element, and a fixed body (20) for retaining the front frame part (4) and the rear frame part (5); a moving part which retains a moving lens group between the object-side fixed lens group and the image-side fixed lens group or the imaging element, and is disposed radially inside the fixed body (20) to slide relative to the fixed body (20); and a voice coil motor which has a magnetic part disposed on the moving part and magnetically polarized along a direction intersecting with the optical axis of the object-side fixed lens group, and a coil (11) disposed on the fixed body (20) and positioned radially outside a magnet, and is capable of moving the moving part along the optical axis direction relative to the fixed body (20). The fixed body (20) has a maximum dimension in a first direction parallel to the magnetized direction of the magnetic part, which is longer than the maximum dimension in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction and the optical axis direction. |
