Provided is an indoor unit for an air conditioner, the indoor unit reducing the temperature sensing time, thereby executing an optimal air conditioning control at an early stage, improving comfort, and suppressing power consumption. This indoor unit is provided with: a housing having an inlet port provided in an upper section thereof, an outlet port provided on a front surface lower section thereof, a heat exchanger and a fan which are disposed therein, and a rear surface fixed to a wall surface; and an infrared sensor protruding from the housing and having an infrared sensing unit. The infrared sensor rotates around the central axis thereof and is provided with a mechanism for stopping the sensing unit so that the sensing unit faces the rear surface side. |
