Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for performing transmission between a base station and a terminal device according to a frame structure over an unlicensed spectrum in a wireless network that supports communications over both a licensed spectrum and the unlicensed spectrum. The frame structure comprises a first set of time resources and at least a first number of consecutive downlink subframes. The method comprises determining, during the first set of time resources and at the base station, availability of an unlicensed carrier in the unlicensed spectrum and reserving a subset in the first set of time resources on the unlicensed carrier upon the unlicensed carrier is determined to be available. The method also comprises performing downlink transmission from the base station to the terminal device at least partially within the first number of consecutive downlink subframes on at least the unlicensed carrier in response that a duration of the reserved subset of time resources expires. There is also provided the corresponding apparatus.
