To provide a communication terminal wherein antenna performance is less deteriorated even if a user holds a housing lower portion with a hand, in the case where an antenna element is disposed at the housing lower portion. This communication terminal is provided with: an antenna element, which is disposed along one surface of a housing, and in which one end is connected to a power feed point, and the other end is an open end; and a metal plate, which has a plate surface that is provided in the perpendicular direction with respect to the linear direction from the one end to the open end of the antenna element, and which is provided on the open end side of the antenna element. The metal plate is characterized by: being rectangular; having a first ground point that is provided close to the open end of the antenna element, and a second ground point having, in the direction to be away from the open end of the antenna element, a fixed distance from the first ground point; having the surface thereof disposed in the perpendicular direction with respect to the surface of the substrate in the housing; and being exposed from the surface of the housing.
