The apparatus (100) has a storage vessel (140) provided with a cold water inlet (110), a hot water outlet (170) and a receiving space (143) for expansion of water. The hot water outlet is designed in a valve-free manner for supplying hot water with atmospheric air pressure for provision of near-boiling hot water at temperature of about 90 degree Celsius. A suction unit (120) is provided in a region of an inlet section (144) of the storage vessel for suction of expansion water from the receiving space at temperature of about 90 degree Celsius. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hot water apparatus.
