A magnetic contact device for operation by an energizing coil comprises a glass tube 9 and contact-members which are made by bending a bar of magnetic material. The bar is of circular cross-section with flattened ends forming arms 2, 4. The arm 4 is bent at 7 forming two parallel parts with the tip 5 spaced from the tip 3 of the arm 2. The cylindrical parts 13, 14 are sealed into the glass at 10 and the part 12 is then cut away along the line A-A. The tube 9 is evacuated or filled with inert gas and sealed at 11. The tips 3, 5 which contact each other on energization may be plated with metal of good conductivity or contacts may be welded or riveted to the tips. |
