BLUNT IMPACT INJURY MODEL SYSTEM

The present application is concerned with a system for assessing injury risk or damage to an object in response to a blunt impact, and especially skull fracture risk beneath a helmet in response to a blunt impact. The application is also concerned with the use of a force sensor for evaluating the response of materials for use in a helmet shell to a blunt impact.

A system for assessing the risk of injury or damage to an object in response to blunt impact, the model comprising a hollow shell, having an inner surface and an outer surface, defining the shape of the object, and a force sensor displayed at or beneath the inner surface of the hollow shell, wherein the force sensor is moveable to circumscribe the whole or a substantial part of the inner surface of the hollow shell to record a force at a point or area on or beneath the hollow shell.
