PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make self discharge started in the case of temperature rise, and thereby return a battery to a safe state. SOLUTION: The battery is provided with a vessel (1, 1A), a cathode terminal (3) fitted to a lid part (1a) of the vessel (1, 1A), an anode terminal (2) fitted to the lid part (1a), and connection mechanisms (6 to 9) electrically connecting the cathode terminal (3) and the anode terminal (2). The connection mechanisms (6 to 9) are so structured that the cathode terminal (3) and the anode terminal (2) are electrically connected when specific members (6, 8) melt down due to temperature rise of the battery.
