The present invention relates to a reception device, a reception method, a transmission device, and a transmission method, with which content corresponding to the preferences of a user can be provided. Provided is a reception device which is equipped with: a tuning control unit which implements tuning control for tuning into a digital broadcast using an IP transmission method; and an acquisition control unit for implementing acquisition control in which content transmitted by the digital broadcast is acquired in accordance with the results of matching processing between a provider-side PDI-A and a client-side PDI-A. The provider-side PDI-A indicates a response set by a provider providing the content, to a query related to the preferences of a user, said provider-side PDI-A being included in transmission information transmitted, in the digital broadcast, in a layer superior to an IP layer in the layers of protocol in the IP transmission method. The client-side PDI-A indicates a response set by the user, to the query. The present invention is applicable to television receivers. |
