<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system for referring to the content of a disposal document even after the disposal of a document, and to suppress the increase of a memory capacity necessary for storing the content of a disposal document in this document management system. <P>SOLUTION: This document management system is provided with: a document management part 110 for storing and managing an electronic document in a storage device; a document disposal part 130 for eliminating the electronic document from the storage device for disposal; and a summary document creation part 150 for creating a summary document (summary document) including information related with the electronic document as the object of disposal based on preliminarily set setting information. The summary document created by the summary document creation part 150 is stored in a storage device.
