<p>A sensor for checking value documents, an apparatus with the sensor, and a method for operating the sensor. Neither the software that the sensor executes for checking the value documents nor the adaptation data that the sensor employs for checking the value documents are stored permanently in the sensor itself. The sensor is set up for the software as well as the adaptation data to be loaded into the sensor from outside the sensor. The sensor can be employed for checking value documents only when a data carrier is connected to the sensor, and the data carrier has license data stored thereon through which a license for the employment of the software and/or of the adaptation data is supplied to the sensor.</p> |
