[Class 111] [See also Group VI] Diffusers for blowing air or other gas into sewage or other liquids have porous tiles 13 in frames 14 formed with tongues 16 on the lower surface and engaging grooves in the upper surface of underframes or bases 17, to which the frames 14 are attached by means of bolts 19. Jointing material 22, for example strips of rubber or bitumastic cord, is placed in the grooves. The under-frames may be cut away to accommodate the bolt heads. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement in which four tiles 13 with frames 14 are mounted on a single underframe 17 with cross-members having apertures 17a for the passage of air to the undersides of all the tiles.
