PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode substrate capable of preventing short circuit between neighboring electrodes and capable of fabricating an imaging device at a high yield even in the cathode substrate having narrow pitches between the neighboring electrodes, and provide the imaging device using the same. SOLUTION: The cathode substrate comprises a first substrate 1 to form a plurality of field emission cold-cathode elements, and a second substrate 7 having an opening 12 and arranging a wiring 8 to supply a potential to the first substrate 1. The first substrate 1 and the second substrate 7 are overlapped with each other, the field emission cold-cathode elements of the first substrate 1 are exposed to the opening 12 of the second substrate 7, and at a part where the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 7 are overlapped with each other, the first substrate 1 and the second substrate 7 are electrically connected to each other.
