PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a profile grinder capable of smoothly grinding a recess openly formed on the side surface of a workpiece. SOLUTION: The profile grinder 10 has: a base part 11; a workpiece unit 14 which is provided at one side on the base part 11 and has a workpiece table 13 holding the workpiece 12; and a grinding wheel unit 17 which is provided at the other side on the base part 11 and has a grinding wheel rotary mechanism 16 holding a grinding wheel 15 and rotating around the axis center. The workpiece unit 14 is provided with first to third moving means 36, 39, 31 which support the workpiece table 13, and move the workpiece table 13 in the X and Y directions orthogonal to each other in the horizontal plane, and in the Z direction orthogonal to the horizontal plane respectively. The grinding wheel unit 17 is provided with a turning mechanism 54 which turns the grinding wheel 15 with a vertical line passing the tip end part of the grinding wheel 15 as a center.
