PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying method for improving torsion of a plate material having torsion. SOLUTION: After arranging crosspieces 1 on a floor face of a drying chamber such that they are positioned in both ends and a middle part of the plate material 2 to be placed thereon, wood sheets 3 are placed on the crosspieces 1 on both sides other than the middle parts, at substantially equal intervals in a longitudinal direction of the crosspiece 1. Three dried plate materials 2 of Oregon pine having a thickness (a), a plate width b<SB>1</SB>in an upper side, a plate width b<SB>2</SB>in a lower side, a plate length L, and a twist d are placed on the sheets 3 such that sunken sides are positioned on the sheets 3. The sheet 3 is placed on each protruding side of each plate material 2. The plate materials 2 are stacked thereon via the crosspieces 1 with the sheets 3 in between, and the plate materials 3 are stacked four times. After placing a weight 5 via the sheets 3 and the crosspieces 1 on the uppermost plate materials 2, drying by steam heating is carried out for several hours. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
