PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning system capable of generating an appropriate response in accordance with a positioning accuracy class requested from a client device. SOLUTION: The client device 101 specifies a requested positioning accuracy and a request class when transmitting a positioning request of a mobile device 103 to a server device 102. The server device 102 checks the positioning accuracy requested by the client device 101 and sends the positioning result if the positioning result satisfying the requested accuracy is present. If no positioning result satisfying the requested accuracy is present, the server device 102 checks the requested class of accuracy. When the class is the second class ("Best Effort"), the positioning result of the highest accuracy is selected and sent to the client device 101.
