The present invention relates to a method to recover indium from an indium containing solution, dispersed liquid, or a mixture; for example from seawater, industrial water, waste water, a coolant, and a solution extracted from a waste electronic product such as a display panel at high selectivity and efficiency. To achieve this, the method to recover indium from an indium containing solution uses an absorbent containing one or more porous nickel-phosphate molecular sieves represented by the chemical formula 1 below.
