The conveyor for a sheet incorporates first grippers (1.12) circulating in a first direction for picking up the sheet (2.2) by its leading edge (2.2). A cylinder (1.7) supporting the first grippers has a support surface (1.13) on its periphery for the sheet picked up. Second grippers (1.14) circulating in a second direction contrary to the first direction pick up the leading edge from the first gripper. A pair of rotary sheet supports (1.16) turning on a rotational axis in the second direction each have a roller surface (1.17) concentric with the rotational axis. Vacuum grippers (1.18) circulating in the second direction transfer a backward edge (2.2') of the sheet from the cylinder by means of the sheet-supports to the cylinder's support surface.
