Provided are: a method for suppressing back oxidation which has high airtightness and a strong back-oxidation suppression effect; and a lining structure. This method for suppressing the back oxidation of a carbon-containing refractory product involves: starting with a refractory product which is to be used at a high temperature of 400°C or higher, and contains 1 mass% or more of carbon or a carbon compound; and forming an adhered layer on the back surface of the refractory product, which is the surface opposite the working surface thereof, by adhering and solidifying a silicic-acid alkali metal salt aqueous solution containing an alkali metal oxide and SiO2 thereto and thereon, the SiO2 mol ratio of which is 2.3 or more relative to the alkali metal oxide (R2O) (R being the alkali metal element). Thus, a solid adhered layer of the silicic-acid alkali metal salt is formed on the back surface of the carbon-containing refractory product. |
