PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain which can suppress the generation of noise at chain traveling while reducing a cost and saving a space, and a chain guide plate. ! SOLUTION: A chain 100 comprises first plate rows 110 and second plate rows 140. In the chain 100, guide plates 120 having guide slide-contact parts 124 for slide-contacting with an inside guide G are included in the first plate rows 110, the guide slide-contact parts 124 extend to a chain longitudinal direction so as to be asymmetric in left and right directions with a virtual center line L as a reference, and a line which is drawn by the guide slide-contact parts 124 of a plurality of the guide plates 120 in guiding by the inside guide G is continuous to the chain longitudinal direction. !
