摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel control unit of a hybrid electric vehicle, capable of achieving comprehensive reduction in fuel consumption by efficiently using electric power generated by rotating a motor by an engine in a hybrid electric vehicle.SOLUTION: A hybrid electric vehicle 1 including an engine and a motor as travel driving sources, calculates an average requested torque DTave by averaging requested torques DT within a low load interval; and implements an engine-power-generation travel mode for generating the average requested torque DTave by the engine and generating electric power by rotating the motor in a period &Dgr;T1 that is a first half of the low load interval, and implements a motor travel mode for generating the average requested torque DTave by the motor using the electric power generated in the engine-power-generation travel mode in a period &Dgr;T-&Dgr;T1 that is a second half of the low load interval, if the average requested torque DTave is equal to or lower than a fuel-consumption determination threshold DTb.
